With the SAP FSM Release 2002, SAP is providing us with some long-awaited functionalities. Work Force Management (WFM) in particular is being upgraded so that planners will have an even easier job in the future.
While there are some changes that simplify working in WFM (intuitive multiple selection of activities) or on the mobile device (swiping to change daily view), based on our experience, the following features are likely to be particularly useful for customers:
- Planning scenarios
- Reservation of tools
- Dynamic service workflows
What SAP FSM calls planning scenarios is a concept that allows the simple management of teams, e.g. branches with their own planner, several technicians and their own activities. Once the scenarios have been set up, the planning view can be filtered according to these scenarios. This means that the planner only has the relevant activities and service technicians in view with one click. OPUSm expects the solution to have great potential, because planners and technicians can be assigned to several regions (scenarios). This should offer opportunities in the context of temporary staff/substitutions.
The reservation of tools is also a change that will be welcomed by many customers. It will now be possible to book special tools that are only needed for individual orders for an activity. If the activity is released, the special tool is automatically reserved. This means that the planner not only knows that the special tool will be available for the technician, but can also see when the tool will be available again for other orders.
The dynamic service workflows are a seemingly small adjustment, but one that has a big impact. It will now be possible to define multiple service workflows and assign them to specific activities. This means that the service workflow no longer has to be created in a general way that is suitable for all applications, but can be adapted specifically to the application. This helps with daily work, but should also simplify the training of new technicians.
With these new features, SAP FSM Release 2020 is one of the strongest releases in a long time. Please contact us so that we can show you how these functionalities will make your employees’ work easier.
